RWD Huracan In The Pipeline

Lamborghini Huracan seems to be slotted for a rear-wheel drive option as early as 2016 according to a new report that came out today. The company’s new chief test driver, Giorgio Sanna hinted that two rear-wheel drive variants of the Huracan will be made.

Huracan-RWD-2

The official announcement will be made public in 2016, indicating that they could already be under development. This information was let slip at the track launch of the Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo here in Malaysia.

Huracan-RWD-4

One of the two road cars will have the same hardcore attitude and may be positioned to compete with Ferrari’s new 488 GTB turbocharged supercar. A more mainstream version will follow, which is likely going to be just an LP 610 without power at the front.

Huracan-RWD-3

The Huracan’s twin-clutch gearbox, which changes gears faster and better than the old unit ought to make this rear wheel drive experiment a more exciting drive than the previous LP550 Gallardo. The chassis of the Huracan is also lighter and stiffer. Sister company Audi, who are planning a RWD version of their new R8 may also have valuable input into perfecting the final product.
