BMW Motorad All-Time Sales Record
BMW has been setting records for the number of bike sales for the past few months but the first three months of 2015 has seen the German company achieve the best quarterly sales figures of all time. Up to the end of March BMW sold 31,370 bikes which compares to 28,719 the previous year and showed a 9.2% increase. In March alone the company sold 15,912 motorcycles and scooters compared to 15,183 in 2014 which was a 4.8% growth in sales.
Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing: “BMW Motorrad has started the new 2015 motorcycle season with the best first quarterly sales of all time. For the first time ever in the history of BMW Motorrad we have supplied more than 31,000 vehicles to our customers in the first three months which corresponds to a significant plus of 9.2%.
“In the first three months we recorded growth in nearly all sales regions. Germany still remains our strongest single market. Selling 5369 vehicles as per March we increased sales here by 12% as compared to the previous year.”
This is followed by the USA (3229 units), France (3155 units), Italy (2936 units) and Great Britain (1746 units). In the Asian markets too, demand developed very positively.
The BMW Motorrad sales ranking is still headed by the R1200GS and sister model, the R1200GS Adventure. More than 10,000 units have already been delivered to customers this year worldwide. Third place goes to the R 1200 RT, of which 2681 were sold. The fourth generation of the BMW supersports bike has sold 2574 units despite only being on sale for a few weeks.
