0BMW Update Engine and Paint Options Across Range
BMW are planning some serious changes throughout their model range for 2015. Starting with exterior paint, in July we’ll begin to see Champagne Quartz and Smokey Topaz Metallic being offered on all its 4-Series cars, including the M4. The F10 5-Series sedan and GT models will come with Tanzanite Blue Metallic as an option. Another model receiving a shade of blue will be the Z4 Roadster, which will be available in Estoril Blue but only if equipped with the M Sport package.
Besides the new colours, BMW are also planning on introducing an updated line of engines to keep their cars in compliance of EU6 emission standards. The new engine tunings do mean that efficiency is improved as well as emission levels. There’s a lot to mention here and we’ll start with the 1-Series and make our way up.
The 1-Series gets a new 1.5 litre 3-cylinder gasoline engine making 136 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque, but it’s not a base level engine.
2-Series cars will see a 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel unit that can be had with a twin-turbocharged for 224 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Naturally aspirated variants produce 150 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. 3-Series variants will also see new diesel powerplants not dissimilar to those on the 2-series.
The X5 is the final update on the list. This SUV gets an update to its B47 diesel, which will now put out 231 horsepower instead of 218.
