GRT Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Wins

Blancpain Endurance Series, Monza, Italy 11 - 12 April 2015

The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 won its debut outing this weekend in the ADAC GT Masters. In the second round of the series, the car lined up by GRT Grasser Racing Team and driven by the two factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Adrian Zaugg, won Race 2 at the Austrian Red Bull Ring circuit.

This was a very important win for the South African/Italian duo: the ADAC GT Masters is one of the most prestigious National GT Series in Europe, involving many manufacturers as well as the most talented European drivers. The win was achieved despite a demanding balance of performance, which added 40mm restrictors and approximately 100 kilos of extra ballast compared to the car that won Race 1.

Zaugg opened the weekend, setting fifth in the first qualifying session. Bortolotti managed P4 in the second session, lapping just one tenth slower than the pole position. Race 1 ended with P6 overall thanks to a cautious outing that potentially could have brought a P4 finish. A Drive Through penalty for speeding in the pit lane where the car was clocked just 1km faster than allowed with ten laps to go, cost the duo two places.

The Race 2 win culminated with three laps to go after an interesting duel with the Chevrolet Corvette driven by the 2013 champion Daniel Keilwitz and Andreas Wirth, demonstrating the excellent pace and competitiveness of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3.
