Mercedes AMG Petronas qualify 1st and 2nd for Canada GP

It’s becoming a little bit of a trend, seeing how the Mercedes AMG Petronas (or Silver Arrows as they’re known affectionately) are dominating the field in F1. Apart from the odd slip up due to unforeseen consequences, the pair of Hamilton and Rosberg are slicing through the field of drivers, backed by an extremely competent team of mechanics and engineers.

Despite earlier reported setbacks during the testing session, Hamilton managed to qualify in pole position, while Rosberg took second place. For the Silver Arrows, it marks the 20th time they have achieved both 1st and 2nd position for qualifying in F1.

Improvements have been made over the last season, with Hamilton’s time being 0.5 seconds faster than that of pole position for the year before. 0.5 second may not seem like a lot, but when the field is so competitive, every millisecond counts.

As a testament to the engineering of Mercedes’ F1 division, 6 out of the top 7 positions in the grid are running Mercedes powertrains, proving that it is the most robust of the engines developed by various companies for the 2015 season.
