Great Wall Motor Reports August 2026 Production And Sales: Ora And Global Exports Drive Momentum

Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. (GWM) has officially released its monthly production and sales figures for August 2026, delivering 113,396 vehicles globally.

GWM has just released August 2026 sales data and there are a few interesting take aways. While the monthly sales volume represents a slight year-over-year (YoY) contraction of 1.87%, the automaker maintained positive year-to-date (YTD) momentum. From January to August 2026, GWM’s cumulative sales reached 805,358 units, marking a 1.98% YoY increase.

On the manufacturing front, total production output expanded steadily. GWM produced 118,316 vehicles in August (up 4.53% YoY), bringing cumulative eight-month vehicle assembly to 854,229 units, an increase of 8.76% YoY.

New Energy Vehicles: Ora Electric Brand Doubles Volume

Electrified mobility continues to expand its share across GWM’s broader product matrix:

  • Overall NEV Performance: Sales of New Energy Vehicles (combining pure electric and plug-in hybrid models) totaled 40,700 units in August, pushing cumulative 2026 NEV volume to 219,985 units.
  • Ora EV Growth: The Ora marque served as the primary growth catalyst, recording 11,018 deliveries in August—a 110.95% YoY surge. Cumulative January–August deliveries climbed 105.83% YoY to 48,227 units. Interestingly, GWM Malaysia is gearing up to launch the Ora 05 HEV here and this may be the volume seller under that Ora needs to expand its appeal.
  • Ora Production Ramp-Up: Manufacturing for Ora models jumped 142.74% YoY in August to 13,494 units, reflecting capacity expansion to fulfill rising domestic and export order banks.

Overseas Deliveries Dominate Total Volume

International expansion remains a core pillar of GWM’s corporate growth strategy.

In August alone, GWM exported 62,517 vehicles, accounting for over 55% of the company’s total monthly deliveries. From January through August 2026, cumulative overseas exports reached 415,958 units, highlighting sustained market penetration across Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Brand Performance Breakdown

GWM’s specialized sub-brands showed mixed results in August amidst intense domestic competition:

  • Haval: The mainstream SUV division delivered 64,960 units in August (down 5.73% YoY). However, its eight-month cumulative performance remained resiliently positive at 448,522 units, up 0.44% YoY.
  • Tank: The luxury off-road marque registered 17,737 units in August (down 11.41% YoY), bringing YTD deliveries to 127,618 units (down 11.19% YoY).
  • WEY: The premium intelligent crossover brand recorded 7,367 units in August (down 8.23% YoY), though its January–August cumulative tally expanded by 13.39% YoY to reach 59,606 units.
  • Great Wall Pickup: The commercial utility division registered 12,288 units in August (down 7.76% YoY), achieving an eight-month cumulative total of 120,806 units (down 2.04% YoY).

Despite ongoing domestic pricing pressure, GWM’s strategic pivot toward high-efficiency hybrid drivetrains, pure electric urban runabouts, and high-margin global export corridors continues to support its baseline production volume and revenue diversification into the second half of 2026.
