Mercedes testing for Canadian GP well underway
Race fans these days tend to be divided into various camps. There are some of the older guard that have given up on the world of Formula 1 and turned to other things like WEC and rally to sate their motorsport needs.
But for those still supportive of Mercedes AMG Petronas, you’ll be pleased to know that the duo of drivers have topped out in practice times compared to the other teams.
Both of the drivers have moved on to their second power unit of the season, which is good pace considering the new F1 rule limiting the number of powertrains available.
Testing for the morning session was aimed at operating on the prime tyre choice, alternating between low and high fuel setups for different dynamics, while the afternoon session was focused on testing the two different tyre compounds and analysing performance.
Unfortunately it began to ran during the afternoon session, making it difficult for the drivers to operate. Hamilton had an off in Turn 10 as he aquaplaned due to the slippery conditions, though the only damage that his car suffered was a damaged front wing.
