Lexus Gives the IS New Engines for 2016 but Retains the Look

Lexus is updating there IS range with new engines, but expect it to look about the same in 2016. The 2.0-litre turbo that’s currently used on the NX 200t crossover and other Toyota and Lexus models will be introduced as the base model’s engine. This IS 200t gets its 241 bhp and 349 Nm of torque sent to its rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. No manual option here or anywhere in this range for that matter.

There’s the IS 300 as well for those who prefer a naturally-aspirated powerplant. This one outputs a 14bhp more power but generates a little less torque, with 319Nm being sent through its four-wheel drive system via a 6-speed transmission.

Finally, the top of the line IS 350, the only one that’s already being sold in 2015, retain its all-powerful 3.5-litre V6 with an output of 306 bhp and 375 Nm of torque. The eight-speed Sports Direct Shift can be made to work with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Lexus have also added an optional ‘Premium Plus Package’ which adds things like auto wipers and power adjustment for the steering wheel’s tilt/telescopic adjuster. There’s also a smartphone app tie in that works with the new Lexus Enform Service Connect system that shows more info on the car’s current status as well as a F Sport packages that see the inclusion of more aggressive body panels, 18”alloys and sportier suspension.
