Known as the Celica XX in Japan, this classic supercar, the 1982 MA61 Celica Supra was Toyota’s first truly competitive sports/GT car that competed directly with the Mitsubishi Starion, Mazda RX-7 and Nissan 300Z.

The 2000GT’s twin-cam engine developed with cooperation from Yamaha was Toyota’s first dual overhead cam six-cylinder engine, a configuration that laid the groundwork for what would eventually become the 5M-GE DOHC six-cylinder engine used in the 1982 to 1986 Toyota Celica Supra.
