Proton Extends Deadline of its Design Competition

PROTON Holdings Berhad has extended the deadline for submission of entries for PROTON Design Competition 2015 to 17th September 2015 as a consideration to appeals from secondary schools.

The design competition has been extended up to the middle of September to provide the contestants, especially from secondary schools, additional preparation time while they juggle between the festive holidays and assessments for students sitting for PT3.

The students for Category 1 and participants for the Open Category (Category 2) can visit PROTON’s corporate website, www.proton.com for the full terms and conditions of the Design Competition. Participants can also obtain tips and download the entry form from the website, apart from obtaining it from PROTON showrooms nationwide. Photocopies of entry forms are acceptable and no purchase is necessary to enter the Competition.

The PROTON Design Competition 2015, which is aimed to nurture the spirit of creativity and innovation is into its second year. The theme for this year is “Design A Concept Car For The Malaysian Family”.

There are two categories, Category 1 – Secondary School and Category 2 – Individual. Secondary school students, those aged between 13 – 17 years old can send their entries in a group of 3 people and submission must be made under their school name. The individual category is opened to those aged 18 years old and above. A maximum of 3 entries are allowed for each group participation and individuals.

The contest is only open to Malaysians holding a valid identity card and cash prizes of up to RM15, 000 can be won. Other than cash prizes, 10 winners from both categories will also bring home a medal or trophy and certificate from PROTON.

All participants are required to design the exterior of the car according to the theme and submit the development sketches and renderings. If the participant has the advantage of using design software, they can also submit a 3D digital visualisation of the exterior. Additional to this, participants for Category 2 must submit the interior vehicle packaging diagram for occupants and engine layout, and the illustrative renderings of the interior of the car. 3D digital visualisation of the interior is also welcomed. All sketches and renderings must be on A3 size paper and cannot be mounted, laminated or bound together.

For the entry to qualify, participants must also provide a Design Brief in an A4 size paper containing not more than 350 words, the title of the design, the design concept and the unique selling proposition of the car.
