Mercedes-AMG driver on top of DTM driver points standings
The Oschersleben circuit is hosting the DTM this weekend for Races 13 and 14. Mercedes-AMG DTM driver Pascal Wehrlein (gooix Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) finished the first race at Oschersleben in fifth place and so, the 20-year-old reclaimed the lead in the DTM standings. He is now on 130 points and is four points up on Sweden’s Mattias Ekström (Audi). Team gooix/Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG also lead the DTM team standings by 31 points.
Wehrlein’s fellow Mercedes-AMG DTM driver Daniel Juncadella crossed the line in tenth place at the end of the 40-minute race on Saturday. The Spaniard achieved a points-scoring finish for the sixth time this DTM season. Scottish driver Paul Di Resta (Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) booked P13. Lucas Auer (BWT Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM), Maximilian Götz (Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) and Christian Vietoris (Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) finished 15th, 16th and 18th respectively.
The race was interrupted by two safety car deployments right at the start. Robert Wickens (SILBERPFEIL Energy Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) and Gary Paffett (EURONICS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) both retired following contacts with other vehicles.
