Volkswagen team on podium again for FIA World Rally Cross
The successful run shows no signs of stopping: Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson claimed his third podium finish in a row at the wheel of the Volkswagen Polo RWRX. The Volkswagen Team Sweden driver was only beaten by Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud (Ford) at the twelfth and penultimate round of the season in Franciacorta/Italy.
This latest success saw Kristoffersson (228 points) make up more ground on the man in front of him in the overall standings, Timmy Hansen (S, Peugeot). The second Volkswagen Team Sweden driver, Tord Linnerud, did not enjoy such a successful weekend in Franciacorta. The Norwegian went out in the semi-final and ultimately had to settle for eleventh place.
Lady Luck also deserted the two drivers from Volkswagen team Marklund Motorsport. Both Toomas “” Heikkinen (FIN) and Per-Gunnar “PG” Andersson (S) went out of the competition early doors in the Volkswagen Polo RX Supercar, ending the weekend in 13th and 14th place respectively. The final round will take place in Rosario, Argentina, from 27 to 29 November.
