HLYM launches 18th Yamaha Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn. Bhd (HLYM) launched its 18th Yamaha Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign. This is a corporate social responsibility campaign jointly organized by HLYM and the Malaysia Motorcycle & Scooter Dealers Association (MMSDA), with the aim to instill safety awareness to all motorcyclists, and was officiated by the Minister of Transport, YB Dato Sri Liow Tiong Lai.

This year’s road safety campaign is themed “Fokus di jalan, bukan di tangan”, which addresses the use of mobile phone during motorcycle riding.

Dato’ Jim Khor, Managing Director of HLYM, commented “According to the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), human error due to negligence and carelessness contributed the most in fatal motorcycle road accidents. This includes the use of mobile phone while riding. Motorcyclists should be reminded of such hazards and the importance of safe riding, especially as they head back to their hometowns to celebrate Hari Raya with their families.”

7 POINT CHECK-2

As done previously, the 15-point safety check for all brands of motorcycles, along with consultation to motorcyclists on the importance of periodic maintenance, were provided to the public free of charge. To further enhance safety awareness, HLYM had also initiated a 7 point self-check system to educate the public and to instill collective responsibility on the subject of road safety amongst fellow motorcyclists.
