Rumors on the internet claim that tech giant Apple has been in talks to either buy or invest in UK-based F1 team and supercar maker McLaren. The deal is claimed to be worth between USD1 billion to USD1.5 billion (£770 million to £1.16 billion).

Apple’s possible interest in McLaren is beyond the F1 team and the carbon-fiber sports cars as McLaren has a successful consulting business, a wealth of engineering expertise, and a large impressive patent portfolio. Apple at this time is sitting on a lot of cash and this could be very beneficial is leapfrogging Apple’s car manufacturing plans.

The good people from McLaren and Apple were not immediately available for comment.
