Held in Da Nang, Vietnam, from 10 – 11 October 2016, the event hosted by Lexus Asia Pacific Division and its regional distributors since 2012, saw a total of 57 golfers from eight Asian countries meeting at the world-class Montgomerie Links golf course in Da Nang, Vietnam.

The golfers came from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, having earlier been the top scorers in Lexus-organised tournaments in their respective countries.

This year’s Asia Lexus Golf Tournament was held in difficult weather conditions with occasional rain delaying play on the second day. A new challenge this year was the Speed Competition which was won by Team Taiwan. Players from the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand were dominant in the tournament, taking home seven of the sixteen awards. For the second consecutive year, Team Malaysia – consisting of Tham Kim Seng, Tan Yeow Kwang, Chai Koon Khow and Moh Chee Leong – won the Country Champions award.

There were also special awards for the Best Dressed Golfers which went to three players from South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Four Pro golfers from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) – Beatriz Recari and Azahara Munoz from Spain and Jessica Korda and Alison Lee from the USA, were also present at the event to demonstrate their skills and offered tips to players to improve their game.

“Congratulations to Team Malaysia for bringing home the Country Champions award from the 2016 Asia Lexus Cup Golf Tournament. Clearly, the four members demonstrated consistently high golfing skills to collect the highest total score among all the countries participating,” said Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd.
