“This further proves the TCR concept of National Championships like China and Thailand being able to join with the Regional championship,” TCR Asia Series promoter David Sonenscher explained. “It also gives drivers and teams a great yardstick in which to measure themselves against their Regional and International counterparts.

As an added bonus, the announcement also revealed that both the TCR Asia Series and TCR China competitors will share an invitational race at the famed Guia Circuit in Macau during mid-November.

Additionally, the new 2017 TCR Asia Series calendar has confirmed that the Shanghai season finale will be held on the last weekend of August (26-27).

“As more National Championships open up across the Asian Region, the grid numbers will begin to grow more quickly, and with it, interest in the category and more opportunities for drivers to climb the Touring Car ladder,” Sonenscher admitted.
