Boon Siew Honda to Export RS150R

Boon Siew Honda has inked an agreement with Honda Motor Co. Ltd. to export the RS150R supercub, which is locally assembled at Honda’s Batu Kawan facility in Pulau Pinang. Also present at the official signing ceremony were representatives from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI).

With over 60 years of market presence here in Malaysia, Boon Siew Honda is eyeing to export 700 units of the RS150R in the first fiscal year. The model was launched in June 2016 and officially made available for Malaysians in August 2016.

“This is great opportunity for Boon Siew Honda as we have been studying on export business for years and now we are finally ready to go. We are confident with our Honda RS150R as it is one of the top selling models at Boon Siew Honda. We managed to achieve 17,000 production units in just eight months after the first release in August 2016” said Managing Director and Chief Executive Office, Nobuhide Nagata.

Honda currently holds 26% of total market share in Malaysia as per March 2017 and is aiming to achieve an increase of another 5% by the end of the 2017/2018 fiscal year. Boon Siew Honda recently celebrated its sales achievement of 132% in its last fiscal year.
