Tesla now worth more than Ford by USD2.7 billion

Ford has been in the car business for over 100 years and Ford is currently valued at about USD45.1 billion, however Tesla Motors is now worth USD47.8 billion, this comes from a recent Bloomberg report. Last year, Tesla delivered less than 80,000 cars. Ford, which is America’s 2nd largest car manufacturer, sold 6.7 million vehicles.

Tesla’s stock was up over 5% percent after reporting it has delivered 25,000 vehicles (nearly half of which were the Model X) in the first quarter of 2017. Investors take it as a sign that Tesla can back up its goals for growth ahead of the launch of the Model 3. Tesla says it delivered just over 25,000 vehicles in Q1, broken down as follows:

  • Tesla Model S: 13,450
  • Tesla Model X: 11,550

While at the same time producing 25,418 EVs between January and March – a new company record.
