The end of an iconic sports sedan……Mitsubishi Lancer EVO
For hardcore car enthusiasts in Malaysia and most of the world, it was a sad moment in automotive history when Mitsubishi Motors Japan announced the retirement of the iconic Lancer EVO.
When the generation of the EVO, the 10th, debuted in 2008, it was such a good product, it even impressed legendary rally driver Karamjit Singh as he test drove the car with us up and down a hilltop resort at its launch time.
The Lancer EVO was quick, agile to the steering feel and surefooted like a mountain goat.
The car’s torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system, dubbed Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC), was not only proficient at putting power to the ground, it also generated serious cornering forces. This is what threw people off, the ability of the EVO to respond with aggression to slight movements of the steering wheel and carve corners like a purpose built race car. In other words, it was ideal for the enthusiast, too responsive for the average driver and could be driven like a regular 115hp Lancer to and fro work everyday with no issue.

So, we ask the question…… “Who will the Subaru STI do battle with”?
