MINI John Cooper Works Clubman and Countryman Launched in Malaysia

MINI Malaysia today introduced the new MINI John Cooper Works Clubman and John Cooper Works Countryman, the two most powerful and exclusive models ever built by the British brand. The new vehicles were unveiled at the MINI Track Days 2017 held at Sepang International Circuit.

In essence, the John Cooper Works Clubman is a blend of versatile performance and sophisticated design. Its ample size and split doors in the back makes it flexible for every occasion. The Countryman, meanwhile, is built for the adventurer.

Key exterior highlights of both models include the John Cooper Works aerodynamic bodykit, 19-inch JCW Course spoke wheels in Burnish Black, JCW grille, Chili Red roof, mirror caps and body stickers, rear spoiler, stainless steel tailpipes, as well as JCW side scuttles and door sill.

The interior of the new JCW variants further accentuate the motorsports spirit it carries with sports seats with Dinamica leather upholstery in Carbon Black and red stripes, as well as JCW leather steering wheel with paddle shifters. The instrument cluster also comes with motorsport-inspired design.

In terms of equipment, the variants come with head-up display, 8.8-inch touch display, Harman Kardon sound system, Parking Assist, rear view camera, as well as MINI Find Mate, a new functionality for the JCW models which can help keep track of anything the driver wants. Logo projection from the side mirror of the driver’s door every time the car is locked or unlocked is also included.

Both variants feature the 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine which produces 231 hp with 350 Nm of torque. Coupled with an eight-speed Steptronic sports automatic transmission, the JCW Clubman hits 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds while the Countryman does so in just 6.5 seconds. The former has a combined fuel consumption of 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres while the latter has 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres.

The characteristics of the electronically controlled dampers on the JCW Countryman are geared to a particularly dynamic driving style in Sport mode and support a more comfort-oriented style in Mid and Green modes. The standard sports suspension on the new Clubman, meanwhile, features a particularly tight set-up of the suspension and damping systems.

For braking, the variants are equipped with four-piston fixed caliper disc brakes developed in collaboration with Brembo. The brake calipers are finished in red and bear the JCW logo.

The Dynamic Stability Control system also ensures optimum traction on sprints, agility on bends and safe deceleration. Its functions include Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) – which acts as an electronic locking function for the front axle differential – and Performance Control for agile turning when taking bends at speed.

Both models also come with the ALL4 all-wheel drive system as standard. The electronically controlled distribution of drive torque between the front and rear wheels allows increased agility, supreme traction and optimised driving stability in all weathers and road conditions.

Both the John Cooper Works models are made available in the exterior colours of Rebel Green and Midnight Black. The White Silver is available exclusively for the JCW Clubman while the Light White for the JCW Countryman.

The estimated retail prices (on the road for personal registration, without insurance) are RM328,888 for the JCW Clubman and RM348,888 for the JCW Countryman. Both models arrive with the MINI 4 years unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service as well.
