Honda Malaysia Has Replaced 70% of the Defective Airbag Inflators

Honda Malaysia has been actively replacing affected Takata front airbag inflators since 2014 and would like to update that the overall completion ratio for both driver and passenger front airbag inflators replacement is at 70% as of August 2017. Individually, the completion ratio for Takata driver front airbag inflators is at 81.2% while for Takata passenger front airbag inflators is at 59.5%.

To ensure customers’ safety and make it convenient for customers to replace the affected Takata front airbag inflators, Honda Malaysia has ensured that the stock availability for Takata driver and passenger front airbag inflators is at 100% as of August 2017.

Honda Malaysia also remains unabated in the airbag replacement activities throughout Malaysia. Efforts at Mobile Hubs in selected Shopping Malls and PETRONAS Station Hubs will continue, providing convenient venues for customers to replace the affected Takata front airbag inflators. Honda Malaysia would like to thank PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PBD) for their strong support and collaboration for this important safety campaign.

To make access to replacement activities even easier for affected customers, the Honda Malaysia Mobile Hub in various Shopping Malls in Peninsular Malaysia will be available every weekend in the month of August.

It is critical that the defective Takata front airbag inflators be replaced urgently as they may deploy with excessive internal pressure when activated. The airbag inflator casing might rupture, which may result in injury or fatality of the driver and passenger.

Affected customers are strongly encouraged to make an appointment at any Honda Authorised Service Centre to avoid delays or setbacks in replacing the Takata front airbag inflators. Meanwhile, replacement activities at the Mobile Hubs in selected Shopping Malls and PETRONAS Station Hubs do NOT require advance appointment; walk-ins are welcomed at these locations.

Honda customers can check their vehicles recall status either by logging on to www.honda.com.my or www.productrecall.honda.com.my or by calling the Honda Toll Free number 1-800-88-2020.
