The Pristine Satria GTI Sitting in Proton’s HQ Is a Jewel From the Past

Proton proudly displays some of their milestone vehicles at their Centre of Excellence near Shah Alam. One car that really stands out is the Satria GTI. This hot hatch still retains respectable value. Finding one as untouched and pristine as the one in the COE is extremely rare.

The Satria GTI was a legend in its time. It was a lightweight, 3-door hatch with a 1.8-litre 4G93p engine producing 138bhp.

That kind of power meant the Satria GTI could get to 100km/h from a standstill in less than 8 seconds. What’s more, it got its suspension tuned by Lotus. It enjoyed a healthy run of about 7 years.

Seeing this car being left undriven gives me mixed feelings. On the one hand, thank you Proton for ensuring one example remains preserved forever. On the other hand, such a great driver’s car should be driven!
