UMW Toyota Plants Nearly a Hundred Trees in Bandard Kinrara

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMW Toyota) planted close to 100 trees of different species at Bandar Kinrara, Puchong as part of its Green Wave Project in collaboration with local community and Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ).

Since 2011, UMW Toyota have continued the task of engaging communities positively in sustaining and restoring environmentally fragile habitats and urban gardens in Malaysia. The annual green wave tree planting program is part of this initiative.

Apart from greening the neighbourhood, the program intends to create awareness amongst Toyota customers, it’s staff and the community to care for the environment. Among the tree species that were planted at the Kebun Komuniti and playground area of BK9/5 Bandar Kinrara are Trumpetbush (Tecoma), shrubs a variety of fruit trees and herbal species.

Through a worldwide strategic plan, the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 aims to create a future society that lives in harmony with nature. To realize this, UMW Toyota consistently educate their staff through training programs including involving them to improve local community’s environment care.

The company has undertaken numerous tree planting projects with its staff involvement which included mangrove swamps restoration and rehabilitation at Sungai Pelek, Banting, where 1000 trees were planted in 2013. Similar restoration project was also carried out in Setiu, Terengganu in 2011.

Besides mangrove areas, UMW Toyota have worked with many local councils and organizations in the past few years where over 1300 trees were planted in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, Cameron Highlands and in FRIM, Kepong. Last year, over 1000 trees were planted in the surrounding area of its assembly plant, Assembly Services Sdn. Bhd.

At the event, the MP of Puchong, YB Gobind Singh Deo, Chairman of 9/5 Bandara Kinrara Resident Committee, Tuan Haji Amin Mohamed and Director of UMW Toyota, En Mohd. Shamsor Mohd Zain joined hands with UMW Toyota staff, and BK9/5 residents to plant trees.
