Job opportunity for Malaysian citizens

Quick Ride Sdn Bhd, an entity conceptualised by Cartrade Group and Koperasi Pelaburan Amanah Berhad (KAPB) was officiated today at Menara Kembar Bank Rakyat, Kuala Lumpur.

KAPB in collaboration with Uber chose Proton and formed a smart partnership on this venture. Quick Ride is the operating company that will be leasing out Proton cars to qualified individuals to become driver-partners with Uber’s e-hailing network in the Klang Valley. This opportunity is primarily targeted for those unemployed graduates, jobless citizens or even those intending to supplement their current primary income with hopes for them to meet the challenges of today’s cost of living. Those who meet the mandatory requirements and are passionate to generate a source of substantial income, will be able to lease either a brand new Proton Saga (at RM45 per day) or a Proton Persona (at RM55 per day).

KAPB’s Executive Chairman, Dato Ilyas Mohamed said that unconventional private business venture such as this, which comes along with government’s support and encouragement, will greatly benefit Malaysians. The unique feature of the group of Uber cars under Quick Ride is that passengers will enjoy free Wifi that is available in the vehicle as well as a digital interactive tablet on the back seat pocket, hence providing a hassle-free, convenient and informative journey. Quick Ride vehicles will be part of the UberX view in the Uber ride application.

Initially, 1,000 unit of cars will be up for lease to potential applicants. The number of cars is planned to be gradually increased to 10,000 units over these next two years, creating more promising job opportunities in the country. Rest assured, the cost of vehicle maintenance (except tyres and fuel), road tax and insurance will be supported by Quick Ride.

“Uber stands for providing choice at the touch of a button to more Malaysians. We applaud KAPB and Proton’s effort to provide economic empowerment using Uber’s technology, especially to those who need it. This partnership demonstrates the innovative ways for economic empowerment and how ride-sharing has the potential to positively impact the socioeconomic status of Malaysians. With Uber, driver-partners can provide for themselves and their families, as well as have greater independence to pursue their dreams,” said Karina Ali Noor, General Manager for
Expansion, Uber Malaysia.

Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, Chief Executive Officer of Proton said that they see this as a progressive collaboration as it has only the customers’ convenience, comfort and safety at the heart of its operations. The collaboration not only provides customers a world class convenience of a ride hailing application at their fingertips through Uber, but also the choice to be in cars which will be comfortable and loaded with various active and passive safety features for both passengers and drivers.

“I believe the offer for lease of Saga 1.3L Standard CVT and the Persona 1.6L Standard CVT provides good option to the potential applicants. These cars have been recently launched and incorporate good specifications for the price in terms of comfort and safety features as well as the Eco-Drive Assist indicator to assist in achieving optimum fuel consumption. In addition, we also provide a 3–year free service (or 60,000km whichever earlier) and 5-year warranty (or 150,000km whichever earlier) term to ensure that the drivers could benefit from overall lower cost of ownership in the long-run,” added Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali.
