What Could Geely Have Under Its Sleeve?

Market research would show that the SUV, compact crossover and pickup truck segments are the fastest growing auto segments in ASEAN especially in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. This could see the arrival of a Geely Boyue pickup truck with a possible Proton badge on it. Geely could easily adapt their Boyue SUV into a pickup truck and this could be sold in both right hand drive as well as left hand drive versions (to cater for Vietnam and Philippines).

Selling price would be very good with the given ASEAN trade tariffs that Geely would enjoy being a 49.9% shareholder of Proton and using Proton’s existing network.

For the crossover segment, the Geely GS sport could be the answer. This stylish compact vehicle could be the competitor to the HR-V and C-HR and the many little crossovers sold in Indonesia.
