South East Asia’s Largest Porsche Gathering Happens Next Month

The sights: hundreds of Porsche cars past and present. The sounds: an orchestra of engines revving to the redline, accompanied by tyres squealing their way to the limits of physics. And, of course, this being gastronomical Thailand, the smells: a heady aroma of food, glorious food.

In celebration of 70 years of Porsche sports cars, the carmaker invites members of the public to join the festivities at its Sportscar Together Day (SCTD) at the Show DC Oasis Arena in central Bangkok on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 1pm till midnight.

By day, SCTD is set to gear itself towards family-friendly activities, with a Porsche Virtual Reality experience and E-Performance showcase, Kids Driving School and hot-lap rides in the 918 Spyder. As part of a global tribute tour, the 919 Hybrid makes a special stop-over at SCTD to take a bow in front of its fans in Thailand. For nourishment, the Porsche Curves Café, a typical German beer garden and food stalls set up throughout the venue will serve up the best of German and of local cuisine. As night falls, the atmosphere will become more pumped up with the Porsche by Night festival, with live DJ sets and other celebrity performances.

Another 200-plus privately owned vehicles, arriving from across Thailand and in convoys from Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore, are also expected to make their appearance. They will join “Das Treffen”, Southeast Asia’s biggest Porsche reunion established to rival the established meets in the US, Europe and Australasia.

The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia one-make sports car racing series will take place at Bangsaen during the same weekend, with shuttles and a live broadcast connecting both venues.
