Perodua Community Contributes RM1.1 million to Tabung Harapan Malaysia

The Perodua community, comprising the organisation’s group of companies and its staff, has contributed RM1.1 million to Tabung Harapan Malaysia in support of the government’s efforts to reduce the country’s debts.

Perodua Chairman YBhg Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin presented the contribution to the Malaysian Finance Minister YB Tuan Lim Guan Eng at the latter’s office today. This was witnessed by Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.

“The contribution demonstrates that Perodua and our staff want a better Malaysia, and that we are more than happy to show our support for that cause,” said Tan Sri Asmat.

Tabung Harapan Malaysia, or Malaysia’s Hope Fund, was launched by the Pakatan Harapan government on 30 May 2018 to assist the government to repay the nation’s debts, which exceed RM1 trillion according to the Finance Ministry.

Various organisations, groups and individuals have donated over RM180 million to Tabung Harapan Malaysia as of end-August.

“We understand that the effort to reduce the country’s debt levels will take some time, and we will support the government of the day in improving the country’s economy through the Malaysian automotive eco-system,” Tan Sri Asmat said.

For this year, Perodua has committed to acquire RM5 billion worth of automotive components through its vendors, which consist mainly of local companies.

Perodua has also projected to sell 209,000 vehicles this year, which will also benefit its independent dealers nationwide.
