Xu Jia Has China GT Championship Title in Sights Ahead of Season Finale

Xu Jia of KINGS has a second consecutive China GT Championship title in his sights heading into this weekend’s season finale. The Chinese privateer has been formidable all season in the KINGS Audi R8 LMS GT3 and, one win away from the 2018 title, he will once more share driving duties with Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup champion Alessio Picariello as rounds 11 and 12 play out at the Shanghai International Circuit.

“Xu Jia has won six of the seven races he has contested this season, demonstrating the depth of his racing talent,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “I wish him and Alessio Picariello all the best for the coming weekend.”

Xu sits atop the China GT leaderboard (150 points) after 10 rounds, knowing that if he wins a maximum of 19 points in Shanghai, he will claim the GT3 title he also won in 2017. Teammate Picariello sits third overall on 100 points having contested five rounds, but needs other results to go in his favour if he is to gain ground on his second-placed rivals.

The first of a double qualifying session gets underway on Friday 19th October at 16:05, with each driver taking the reins for one session. The round 11 grid is then set from the fastest combined best lap times of each driver, with the round 12 grid formed from the round 11 finishing positions. The lights go green on the first of the weekend’s 60-minute GT3 races at 13:55 on Saturday 20th October, with round 12 starting on Sunday 21st October at 14:00.
