Dries Vanthoor Joins Tianshi Racing Team’s Asian Le Mans Series Campaign

Official Audi Sport driver Dries Vanthoor has joined Tianshi Racing Team (TSRT) for their 2018/19 Asian Le Mans Series campaign. The Belgian youngster, winner at this season’s Bathurst 12 Hours, joins Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup Am+ champion David Chen and Dennis Zhang in one of two TSRT Audi R8 LMS GT3 entries for the season-opening Four Hours of Shanghai on November 25 at China’s Formula 1 circuit.

Lining up in the second entry is nine-time Macau Guia Race touring car winner Robert Huff alongside Italian Max Wiser and Chinese privateer Xu Wei, forming a formidable two-pronged assault on the winter endurance series from the long-time Audi customer squad. An entry into the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans LM GTE Am category awaits the overall GT season champion.

“Tianshi Racing Team has put together two very capable driver squads for their Asian Le Mans Series campaign. We wish them all the best,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “It’s great to see such an exciting young driver as Dries Vanthoor back in Asia.”

The 2018/19 Asian Le Mans Series consists of four, four-hour races kicking off at the Shanghai International Circuit in China on November 23-25 before heading to the Fuji International Speedway in Japan on December 7-9. The season closes out with a visit to Thailand’s Chang International Circuit on January 10-12 and Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit on February 22-24.
