New Audi R8 LMS GT3 Deliveries Have Begun

Orders for the new evolution of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 can now be made through Audi Sport customer racing Asia. This ensures that the formidable new race car will be on the grid for the start of the 2019 season in Asia. Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October, the car has been designed specifically for Audi Sport customers, with testing throughout the developmental stage coming from both professionals and amateur drivers. The new car delivers better durability and reliability, as well as optimised aerodynamics and cooling that bring enhanced, more consistent handling and, ultimately, quicker lap times.

Based on feedback from drivers, engineering developments on the new car centred on four areas: aerodynamics, brake cooling, clutch and transmission. Together, the new innovations create better handling which translates into greater consistency on the race track, crucial to winning championships.

The 585-horsepower, naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine remains unchanged, but durability of the power transmission elements is a focal area. Moderate modifications of the overall concept and longer service intervals for the clutch and transmission mean more time on the race track.

The dramatic new fascia and splitter are designed to give more consistent, predictable downforce that simplifies airflow to the rear, improving heat evacuation properties for the brakes.

For those wishing to upgrade their 2016-specification Audi R8 LMS GT3, upgrade packages are also available for purchase and delivery to Asia.

“We look forward to the debut of the new evolution Audi R8 LMS GT3 across the race tracks of Asia in 2019,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “We believe these technical innovations will translate directly into even stronger on-track performance and greater enjoyment and success for our drivers at all levels.”

The new evolution of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 is the fourth new model in as many years from Audi Sport customer racing, following on from the second-generation Audi R8 LMS (2015), the Audi RS 3 LMS touring car (2016) and the Audi R8 LMS GT4 sports car (2017).

Ever since the Audi R8 LMS made its debut in 2011, it has engraved its name on the winners’ lists of the world’s most prestigious endurance races from Europe to the USA to the Asia-Pacific region. Worldwide championship titles, plus international success in the FIA GT World Cup and Intercontinental GT Challenge complete the track record for the winning car.

Customers in Asia can place orders now at Audi Sport customer racing Asia for the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 at a sales price of 398,000 euros (excluding shipping). The evolution kit for retrofitting older model generations to the 2019 homologation standard is available in Asia for 30,000 euros. In addition, an optional gearbox upgrade is also available in Asia for 8,000 euros. Following FIA homologation, the race cars will be battling internationally for points, victories and titles starting in January 2019.
