5th Generation Renault Clio Shown. The Interior Sees Biggest Change

Renault has officially shown the 5th generation Clio. TC Euro Cars stopped offering the previous generation Clio, so don’t expect it to be reintroduced. Still, for those who are interested, here’s what’s new.

This B-segment hatch is more modern and athletic than ever. Designed according to the “Evolution and Revolution” principle.

So, while this is an entirely new car, the looks have not changed drastically compared to its predecessor. That being said, the interior has been completely redesigned, bringing up the car’s perceived quality and technology.

The cabin is a good place to start.

The all-new Clio’s interior features a more compact design to free up space and integrate more in-car technologies. It has one of the widest screens in the segment, at 9.3-inches. This multimedia screen is turned towards the driver.

For the first time, the All-New Clio is equipped with a digital instrument cluster replacing the traditional analogue display. Measuring 7 to 10 inches, the TFT screen can be used to customise the driving experience in a highly intuitive manner. The 10-inch version will include GPS navigation in the display.

The new steering wheel is smaller thanks to a more compact airbag which improves dashboard visibility for the driver. It is fitted with new, more comprehensive and back-lit controls. The new Clio takes its seats from higher-end Renault models. They are designed for better support and general ergonomics.

Outside, the Clio is more dynamic looking, though the general shape is retained. The grille gets larger and the front bumper is more pronounced. Details such as the shark fin antenna, the 100 per cent LED lights, the flush tailgate and the chrome-plated side-window surrounds serve to modernise the exterior and improve perceived quality.

This is also the first to come with air deflectors on the front wheel arches.

They function to boost aerodynamics but also serve the dynamic design of the all-new Clio. All versions of this car come with 100% LED headlights and daytime running lights.

There’s no word yet on engine and transmission options. Perhaps they will reintroduce the same options as before. Here are more photos of the new Renault Clio.
