What ‘toy’ car should you start with

There are many ‘weekend rides’ that Malaysians love to play with. The Japanese are the best to use followed by any early Proton for its low cost of parts. But here we are suggesting a neglected sedan. With many units sitting in small towns and old workshops rotting away. We are suggesting the BMW E28 5-Series.

Can be purchased for as low as RM2,000 for a complete running road taxed car with plenty of potential to be a respected road machine in the hands of an honest mechanic and the available bank balance.

As prices of of the E30 get silly, start looking at the E28 as a lower entry cost and use the same money as you would use with an E30 project. The end result could be a car looking like the E28 in this picture. Think about it. Consult your BMW club friends and get started.
