BMW Cleared Of Dieselgate Issues

Since the start of the Dieselgate scandal in 2015, several investigations have been launched against German car manufacturers that have allegedly altered the emissions of their cars. In particular, the Volkswagen Group, which has already had to pay a fine of 1.8 million euros in Germany. Several lawsuits are still pending against the group and prosecutors are still working on more cases. BMW was also involved in a lawsuit. The judgment of the Munich based prosecutor for BMW has just be given and it was found that BMW Group did not cheat.

According to the judgment, although the measured vehicle emissions were above normal, BMW did not alter the theoretical values. The company made a technical mistake with the emission standards applicable to 8000 cars. Still, a fine of 8.5 million euros was paid. The affected BMW models have already been recalled in the meantime for an update.
