BMW E30 Gets M3 Power For USD140,000
British car tuning company Redux Leichtbau recentlypresented a restomod with the assistance of a BMW M3 shoe horned into a classicBMW E30 bodywork. In the process of building the car, the company’s specialistsapplied a similar approach to the one used by the famous the Porsche restomodcompany, ‘Singer’ to create a modern analogy of the classic Porsche 911.
As a result, this E30 BMW now has arepaired and reinforced chassis, a more powerful engine, an adjustablesuspension and a completely redesigned passenger compartment with a digitaldashboard.
The restoration and tuning process of thisM powered E30 starts with the complete analysis and disassembly of the body which, for this project must be “donated” by the E30 customer.
If a defective E30 car is provided, thenRedux Leichtbau will take care to straighten the body, clean it out and revitalizeit. For this, a series of custom metal components are used.
Under the hood the same process is donewhere they will install a S14 engine that has an increased volume from 2.3L to2.5 liters with new pistons, a new radiator, a Motec control unit and a carbonfiber intake system, along with a newer and lighter battery and more.
At the request of the E30 customer, the carcan also be equipped with a custom compressor turbo ready to produce 387hp and528Nm of torque.
The chosen gearbox is a 5-speed manual witha lightweight clutch and works with a limited slip differential. On the chassisside there are also suspension interventions that have been completely replacedby a three-position EXE-TC adjustable three-position coil shock absorber(optional in four positions), the installation of new anti-roll stabilizers andAP Racing disc braking mechanisms 355 mm and six pistons in front, along with330 mm and four pistons at the rear, among others.
The wheels are made of T-6061 forgedaluminum and can be shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport / Sport 4 tires (slickor semi-slick are optional). Another option will be SICOM’s carbo-ceramicbraking mechanisms, with 380 and 360 mm discs and four-piston calipers, alongwith ceramic brake pads.
Depending on the desire of the E30customer, the E30’s interior can remain as factory original, or restored, ormodified according to the customer’s preference. If you want a car that will beused daily for traveling, it is proposed to repair / replace the Recaro frontseats, keep your rear seats and install a premium audio system.
Tuner Redux Leichtbau for now intends tomake only 30 such cars. How much each restomod will cost is best discussedindividually as the work done varies. Contact them if you need your E30 individualizedand or if you have a basement filled with spare cash.
