Proton X50 crossover selling price to be between RM81k and RM89k
Geely is about to launch a right hand drive version of their recently launched Geely Bin Yue Crossover as a Proton and it will probably be named the Proton X50.
This Bin Yue sits on Geely’s new BMA architecture, measuring 4330×1800×1609mm, with a wheelbase of 2600mm. Geely engineers claims an impressive 68.7% wheelbase utilisation rate for the cabin, which should make for a compact, yet spacious proposition.
The drivetrain used is a 1.5L direct injection turbo petrol engine, co-developed with Volvo, which is good for 130kW and 255Nm. Geely claims a 0-100km/h time in 7.9 seconds which is not too bad for a compact crossover. A 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is paired with the 1.5L turbo, which work together to deliver a combined city/highway fuel consumption rating of just 6.1L per 100km.
There is also a 1.0L direct injection turbo powered Bin Yue, which offers 100kW and 205Nm. This version benefits from a reduced fuel consumption of just 5.3L/100km combined city/highway. This version might not arrive in Malaysia.
Safety features for the Bin Yue include L2 autonomous driving, allowing this compact Geely to travel at the driver’s desired speed, follow vehicles at speeds up to 150km/h, and even change lanes automatically, thanks to a combination of wave radar and high-definition cameras.
Other features include automated parking at the push of a button, and a unique 360° ‘Safety Circle’, which Geely says combines the latest generation ESC electronic stability system, a unique AEB-P automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian recognition, BSD blind spot detection system, TPMS intelligent tire temperature and pressure monitoring system, 360° HD imaging system, HD driving recorder, and other safety features to create a safety net around the vehicle.
