Audi Has Thoroughly Updated the Q7 and SQ7 TDI

The Audi Q7 and SQ7 are getting their major facelift done, which brings Q8-inspired design and technology.

The update here is both visual and technical. We’ve covered this update before, but here’s the list of things that are being updated in closer detail. First, the more cosmetic stuff:

  • The large octagonal Singleframe grille now has six upright slats
  • There are two-part side air inlets
  • Optional HD Matric LED technology with Audi laser light
  • The restyled rear now bears a chrome strip that connects both rear lights
  • New tail light graphics
  • S line package features a blade in the front bumper and new rear underbody protection
  • 19″ wheels are now standard

Inside, here’s what to expect:

  • the length of the Q7 has increased by 11mm
  • new compartment in the instrument panel
  • 5-seater offers between 865 litres and 2050 litres of space
  • electric tailgate is standard, kick-to-open optional
  • optionally the 2nd row can be individually adjusted
  • two large touchscreens with haptic and acoustic feedback
  • optional four-zone automatic air conditioning
  • optional power-assisted door closing function
  • optional Bang & Olufsen 3D Advanced Sound System
  • optional air quality package with fragrance and ionizer

On the mechanical side of things, here’s what’s new:

  • optimised all-wheel steering (rear wheels can turn up to 5 degrees in the opposite direction)
  • optional electromechanical active roll stabilization
  • Adjustable stabilizers
  • Adaptive air suspension standard on 7-seater models
  • S line models come with firmer adaptive air suspension sport (15mm lower)
  • 48V Mild hybrid system with belt alternator starter comes standard

In terms of tech:

  • MMI navigation plus with LTE Advanced and a Wi-Fi hotspot
  • traffic light information in selected European cities to predict light changes
  • adaptive cruise assist
  • adaptive speed assist
  • traffic jam assist
  • active lane assist
  • emergency assist

Audi SQ7 TDI

There’s obviously tonnes to talk about with regards to this performance behemoth but since it’s unlikely to come to our region, we’ll just keep it brief.

  • It’s powered by a 4-litre V8 diesel with 435PS and 900Nm of torque
  • A 48V electrical subsystem powers an electric compressor
  • The electric compressor assists the two turbochargers
  • Century sprint is completed in just 4.8 seconds
  • all-wheel steering is present
  • sport differential is present
  • Singleframe grille has twin slats
  • wing mirrors have an aluminium finish
  • matt silver paint on accents
  • black styling package is optional
  • 20″ cast aluminium wheels in 5 spoke turbine design
  • 285/45R20 tyres
  • 40cm brake discs (front), 35cm in the rear
  • 20″ carbon fibre brakes optional
  • Interior finished in dark leather/Alcantara
  • matt brushed aluminium or carbon finished interior inlays
  • ambient lighting optional
  • stainless steel sill protectors, pedals and footrest
