8th gen Porsche 911 Carrera Coupé and Cabriolet Introduced

Its been more than half a year since the 8th generation of the Porsche 911 was first shown, and now we’re getting the Carrera Coupé and Carrera Cabriolet models.

The 992 -generation first debuted with Carrera S models, which put out 450PS. These Carrera models come with down-tuned versions of the engine that put out 385PS.

This entry-level 911 still comes with a 3-litre biturbo 6-cylinder boxer.

The 911 Carreras still get from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds or 4 seconds (if the Sport Chrono package is optioned). That’s still respectable, considering the Carrera S does it in 3.5 seconds with Sport Chrono. Expect a top speed of 293km/h.

Visually, there are 3 ways to tell these standard Carreras apart from the more powerful Carrera S models:

  • smaller rims
  • smaller brakes
  • individual tailpipe covers

The 911 Carrera comes with 235/40 ZR tyres on 19-inch alloy wheels on the front axle and 295/35 ZR tyres on 20-inch wheels at the rear. Stopping power comes from 330-millimetre brake discs with black, four-piston monobloc fixed callipers.

In Germany, the 911 Carrera Coupé starts at 104,655 euros while the Cabriolet comes in at 118,935 euros. All-wheel drive version will be available soon. The 8th generation 911 Carrera S and 4S are already launched in Malaysia.
