PRESS RELEASE

Perodua is now taking orders for the 2019 Perodua Axia – the A-segment hatchback has had its line-up refreshed to offer Malaysians even more value, advanced safety and greater style.

With six variants – E, G, GXtra, SE, AV and a new STYLE variant – priced from an estimated RM24,090-43,190 (on-the-road before insurance for Peninsular Malaysia), there is an Axia for every purse, purpose and
personality.

All variants are powered by a 1.0-litre 1KR-VE engine with variable valve timing that is connected to a five-speed manual transmission on the E variant and an electronically-controlled four-speed automatic transmission
on all other variants.

“The Axia is at the very core of what Perodua stands for – to provide affordable and fuss-free mobility for all. Over 380,000 units have found homes since we first introduced the model in September 2014, and it was in
fact our best-seller from 2015 through 2017,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

“With the 2019 Perodua Axia, we aim to redefine practical mobility in Malaysia by levelling up the standards of value, safety and style to ensure that the Axia remains your first choice,” he added.

Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0*) suite of driver assistance safety systems, which debuted on the Aruz seven-seater SUV in January, now enters the Axia range with the AV variant, making it the most
affordable car in Malaysia with such a feature. ASA 2.0 comprises Pedestrian Detection (up to 50 km/h), Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100 km/h), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80 km/h), Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control.

“By bringing ASA 2.0 to the 2019 Perodua Axia, we are bringing advanced safety technology to the people, just like we did with the third-generation Perodua Myvi back in 2017,” said Dato’ Zainal.

Additionally, all variants from GXtra and above are equipped with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control, and all variants except the base E have ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution as standard.

The Perodua Axia was Malaysia’s first Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) at its birth in 2014. Today, with rated fuel efficiencies of 22.5 km/l for the manual, 21.6 km/l for the auto and 20.8 km/l for the new STYLE variant, it continues to be among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the country.

“The advances in safety and additional features, coupled to the Axia’s renowned fuel efficiency, practicality, spaciousness, low ownership costs, ease to drive and dependability while maintaining its affordability, mean it
now offers more value than ever before,” said Dato’ Zainal.

On the new STYLE variant, Dato’ Zainal said, “Perodua is taking a bold new step with the Axia STYLE, a new addition to the Axia family that will appeal to the fun and active side of your personality – stay tuned!”

“We welcome the public to visit any of our sales outlets nationwide where our authorised sales advisors will be only too happy to assist you and answer your queries on the 2019 Perodua Axia, which will appear in showrooms soon!” Dato’ Zainal said.

The 2019 Perodua Axia is offered with a five-year/150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).
