Next-Generation Nissan X-Trail Could Look Like This

The Nissan X-Trail has been around for 20 years now and in that time we’ve seen it transform from a boxy 5-seater SUV to a much larger 7-seater. This change happened over the course of 3 generations of model changes and before Mazda burst on the scene with the CX-5, it was one of the few models that could give the CR-V some competition. Now a 4th generation model is being planned for launch. Leaked patent documents from Brazil seem to give us a good idea of what it might look like. Do note that in some markets this model is known as the Rogue. It’s entirely possible that the X-Trail will be taken in a different direction in the next-generation model, but that’s unlikely. Brazil’s Nissan website doesn’t show the X-Trail or Rogue on offer, so it’s also possible that they’re getting an all-new model for this segment, perhaps something made specifically for the region’s needs. But for all intents and purposes, let’s just call this the 4th gen X-Trail.

From the silhouette, it’s clear that Nissan isn’t going to break the mould. While it does look like every panel has been redesigned, the overall shape looks to be retained. It’s not the massive design change we saw between the 2nd and 3rd gen X-Trail.

Here are some photos of the 3rd gen X-Trail to remind you of what it looks like currently.

The overall design is more rugged than the outgoing model, with a larger more aggressive front grille. The rest of the body appears to be slightly more angular than before as well.
