All-New Isuzu D-MAX Gets 5-Star ANCAP Safety Rating

When it comes to safety, pick-up trucks are traditionally a little behind. But the latest models are starting to be equipped with more active safety features. Case in point, the latest Isuzu D-Max.

The all-new Isuzu D-Max was revealed about a year ago in Thailand, and it has now secured a 5-Star safety rating under the Australasian New Car Assessment Program under its new 2020 protocols. This new D-Max shares its underpinnings with the all-new Mazda BT-50. As such, many of its safety features have been vastly upgraded over the outgoing D-Max. The previous BT-50 shared its platform with the Ford Ranger. Mazda has worked closely with Isuzu to make sure their follow-up model keeps up and exceeds standards sets in the previous generation. This includes safety, NVH, comfort, and more. Isuzu’s 1.9L and 3.0L diesel motors are already some of the best in the market.

The New D-Max features advanced driver assistance systems in certain markets. This includes the following features:

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Departure Prevention
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Emergency Lane Keeping
  • Multi Collision Brake
  • Blind Spot Monitor
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Intelligent Speed Limiter
  • Automatic High Beam
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • AT Pedal Misapplication Mitigation

Back in May, this D-Max also scored a 5-Star rating under ASEAN NCAP standards. The D-Max remains the only pick-up truck to be tested under this standard.

PRESS RELEASE

Isuzu Motors Limited (headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo; Masanori Katayama, President and Representative Director; hereinafter “Isuzu”) is pleased to announce that its All-new Isuzu D-MAX one-ton pickup truck, which has made debut in Australia this month (September 2020), has been awarded a five-star rating by the ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) that comprehensively assesses the safety of new vehicles. It has scored the five-star rating under new 2020 protocols.

The All-new Isuzu D-MAX launched in Australia this month incorporates Isuzu’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System*). Reliable real-world detection of obstacles, regardless of day or night, is made possible by superior stereo cameras. Moreover, it is equipped with the latest safety system such as multi collision brake that applies the brakes to mitigate a subsequent impact when a vehicle has been involved in a collision. These safety systems, among other things, are highly rated by the ANCAP which is a new vehicle assessment program.
