All-New Honda City Launched in Malaysia From RM76,800

Honda Malaysia launched the all-new 5th generation City at an event in MITEC today, just a day before the Klang Valley goes into CMCO. The all-new City will come in 4 variants, the familiar S, E and V grades return from before, all powered by a new 1.5-litre DOHC VTEC petrol engine whichhas 121PS and 145Nm of torque, returning 5.4L/100km.

However, the Hybrid i-DCD variant from the outgoing City has been replaced by a new RS grade with an e:HEV powertrain.

But first a break-down of equipment.

The City S Variant (RM76,800) has projector halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED rear combi lights, wing mirror-mounted turn signals, rear air cond vents and 4 airbags.

Finally, on the City RS model (price TBA), you get quite a lot of enhancements. Under the hood, there’s this variant of the City premiers the new i-MMD system that combines a different 1.5-litre port injected, Atkinson-cycle petrol engine that works as both a generator and a high-speed cruising power plant. Most of the time, the City will be powered by an electric motor. The system output for this vehicle is 108PS and 253Nm of torque and it gets 3.77L/100km.

Notable equipment additions on the RS model are the 7” semi digital instrument cluster, an Electric Parking Brake (with Brake Hold), along with Honda Sensing. Honda Sensing on the City RS uses an ultrawide camera WITHOUT a milimeter wave radar. Hence it cannot deliver low-speed follow functionality.

However, all of the other existing Honda Sensing features are present, and in some cases enhanced. The full list of features includes:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist System
