Mercedes-AMG A45S 4Matic+ Edition 1 Is No More…
Fret not because it is being replaced by the ‘regular’ A45S, which is equally competent
It seems that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has already sold out the Mercedes-AMG A45S 4Matic+ Edition 1, about nine months after its local debut. As a replacement, the company is offering a regular version that comes with a slightly smaller price tag of RM427,673 (OTR without insurance).
Don’t let the absence of the “Edition 1” designation discourage you because it is still very much the same car, albeit with a slight change in specification. Of course, the racy decals are no longer there but you still get the stylish AMG Aerodynamics and AMG Night packages, as well as the 19-inch five-twin-spoke light alloy wheels in matte black.
Much like in the Edition 1, you’ll find AMG Performance seats and steering wheel, both wrapped in leather and Dinamica microfibre, designo red seatbelts and plenty of AMG-badged items. In fact, there’s a chance that you won’t be able to tell the difference between the standard A45S and the Edition 1 model.
Under the hood, the formidable 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine retains its impressive output of 421 hp at 6,750 rpm and 500 Nm from 5,000 – 5,250 rpm. Thanks to the AMG Speedshift eight-speed dual clutch gearbox and 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system, the hot hatch is able to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 270 km/h.
