Top 4×4 Vehicles Impressing The Asian Market This Year

We share some of the most talked about 4×4 vehicles for the Asian Market this year.

Ever since the Toyota Land Cruiser was first launched in 1951 it has been one of the most popular vehicles in its class on the market. Since then, more than 10 million units have been sold worldwide.

Anyone wanting to get their hands one doesn’t have much time to do so though as the Cruiser is exiting many markets after the 2021 model year. While this may be very disappointing news for die-hard fans there are, thankfully, there are a number of other vehicles that are bound to impress even the fussiest of 4×4 fans.

The Land Rover Defender is back with a bang

On 07 August 2020, the brand-new Land Rover Defender was launched online via Land Rover Pacific’s YouTube Channel. The vehicle, which will be available in 12 Asian countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand and is everything (and more) off-road enthusiasts were hoping for.

The 2020 Defender features a height-adjustable air suspension that allows for approach and departure angles of up to 40 degrees and ground clearance of as much as 29cm. A variety of accessory packs are also available, each one aimed at tailoring the vehicle to the driver’s favourite terrain. Some of the most popular accessories include driving lamps with protective grills, rear scuff plates, and an integrated air compressor.

The Suzuki Jimny impresses with its weight

The Suzuki Jimny is a great choice for 4×4 fans who are looking for a lightweight off-roader.

The Jimny weighs just 1100kg, compared to the approximately 3100kg of the latest Land Rover Defender and boasts a ladder-frame chassis with rigid-axle suspension at either end. Thanks to its low weight, it typically handles sand, mud, and steep slopes better than hefty vehicles that have a habit of getting stuck.

Thanks to an impressive ramp break-over and departure angle, the Jimny can easily manoeuvre various obstacles without the underbody or bumpers being scratched.  While the 1.5l engine may not win any awards for fuel efficiency, it remains a popular choice among drivers looking for a snazzy, comfortable drive.

Jeep’s Wrangler puts the USA on the map

Although American vehicles have not always fared well in Asia, Jeep has steadily been gaining popularity among younger buyers looking for a rugged utility vehicle.  Jeep may not upgrade the Wrangler very often, but when they do, they don’t disappoint.

Most of the beloved Wrangler design has been preserved, including the slatted grille and prominent circular headlights. The interior, however, is more spacious and sports a range of innovative features including the latest Uconnect® system and lockable storage and console compartments.

Although the new Wrangler was born to explore rugged terrain, it is perfect for city cruising as well, making it a very worthy investment for both the outdoor enthusiast and city slicker.

There are many superb 4x4s available on the market. Regardless of what you base your purchasing decisions on, you are bound to find one that will fit your lifestyle perfectly.
