Weststar Group ‘Datuk’ In Hot Soup With MACC
Apparently, this is not the first time this person has been questioned by MACC
It was recently revealed on social media that a director of The Weststar Group, who is a Datuk, was investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over alleged abuse of power.
In case you didn’t know, The Weststar Group has business interest in multiple sectors such as automotive, aviation, construction, defence and engineering. There are currently 11 companies under the Group, including those you might have heard of like Weststar Maxus and Weststar Motors.
According to a report, several MACC officers had raided the Group’s headquarters at Weststar Tower in Hulu Klang on 27 September and seized several documents. This was followed by another raid and seizure of documents at the Weststar Maxus office located at Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur.
Sources said investigations on the Datuk and several other key witnesses had been carried out in stages until mid-October.
It is understood that the director had been investigated several times before although no action had been taken against this person. This time, however, the allegation grabbed the attention of MACC after Sapura Resources lodged an official complaint against false claims made under the instruction of the suspect.
On top of that, the suspect is also believed to have filed a false claim to Weststar Maxus brand principal, SAIC Motor. So far, Sapura Resources and SAIC Motor have yet to deny this matter.
