Porsche Macan T Added To Range At The End Of The 1st Gen’s Model Lifecycle

The Porsche Macan T is probably the last new variant of the 1st generation Macan before its replacement arrives.

Porsche have perfected the art of adding model variants and this new Macan T is proof of that. The ‘T’ in Porsche speak stands for ‘Touring’, with the first 911 T coming in 1968. In other models, like the 911 T and 718 T, this signifies high end equipment but with an emphasis on lower weight. In essence, Porsche will use a smaller, more lightweight engine and pair it up with more equipment. What’s unique this time around is that Macan T will be the first four door model to bear the ‘T’ badge.

The Macan T will not be powered by a V6 but a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine that puts out a respectable 265PS and 400Nm of torque. This engine is 58.8 kg lighter than the engines in the Macan Paired to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with Porsche’s Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system.

The Sport Chrono Package is optional and comes with a mode switch and Sport Response button on the steering wheel. In this mode the Macan T goes from 0 to 100km/h in 6.2 seconds with a top speed 232km/h.

The Porsche Macan T is the only Porsche model to feature steel suspension WITH Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. On top of that, it is lowered by 15mm, with more rigid anti-roll bars on the front axle and a retuned chassis. There have also been changed made to the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system, the option to lower the body by another 10mm, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and more.

In terms of the way it looks, the Macan T gets Agate Grey Metallic on the front, rear and sides to differentiate it from the other variants. There are additional high gloss black trim pieces as standard and the ‘Macan T’ logo in black. 23″ Macan S wheels are fitted here in dark titatnium as standard and there are 13 exterior colours available.

Inside, you can expect 8-way adjustable, heated sport seats in black leather with a Sport-Tex Stripe pattern, and an embossed Porsche crest on the headrests. A multifunction GT heated sports steering wheel is included in Race-Tex with carbon trims and an ioniser and the door entry guards come in black aluminium as standard.
