Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk8 Launched In Malaysia For RM212K

The 8th generation Volkswagen Golf GTI is now in Malaysian showrooms.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has launched the all-new, 8th generation Golf GTI 2 years after its global debut in February 2020. For the first time ever, the Golf GTI will be locally-assembled at the Pekan plant in Pahang. This will be the first time the Volkswagen Golf GTI will be assembled outside of Germany and China.

As before, the Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0TSI 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Power output has been increased from 230PS and 350Nm of torque up to 245PS and 370Nm of torque. It is still mated to a 7-speed wet clutch DSG, unlike the standard Golf Mk.8, which is available in Malaysia with an 8-speed conventional automatic. The Golf GTI comes with Electronic Differential Lock (XDS) for better traction. Fuel consumption is rated at 7 litres per 100km.

The new Golf GTI comes with a signature honeycomb front grille with red GTI trim pieces and red brake callipers. Full LED headlights and taillights are standard, with 18″ Richmond alloy wheels to distinguish it from the Golf R-Line.

The Golf GTI comes with the Vehicle Dynamics Manager system, allowing for personalisation of drive modes and more. The GTI also has front sport seats in Vienna leather with red trims and seat heating and ventilation. The driver seat has power adjustability with memory feature and lumbar support.

The rest of the interior is advanced, with a 10.25″ Digital Cockpit with a GTI-specific theme, a 10″ Discover Media infotainment system with 3D inbuilt navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 7 speakers, a voice control system as well as a multifunction steering wheel with haptic-touch control.

The Golf GTI comes with ambient lighting with 30 colours and 5 presets. Triple zone climate control and a Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator is also present.
