JPJ Officers Now Equipped With GoPro Max 360 Cameras
JPJ are going all out this Raya to make sure road users stick by the rules and travel safely.
The Road Transport Department, commonly known as JPJ, is outfitting its motorcycle enforcement unit with GoPro Max cameras, which retail for about RM2,350 per unit. A total of 128 of these have been rolled out to monitor road users passing through roadblocks in hotspots during the Raya season. Those caught causing an offence will be called in for questioning before action is taken.
For Raya 2022, JPJ’s focus will be on spotting 9 main traffic offences that are the main cause of fatalities on the road, including:
- not wearing a helmet while riding
- not wearing seat belts in a car
- violating traffic lights
- using a phone while driving
- overloading commercial vehicles
- over-taking at double lines
JPJ’s operations will continue until the 9th of May, having kicked off on the 29th of April 2022, with hundreds of summonses being dished out in the first day itself. JPJ are also fining those who are driving without a valid drivers license or with expired road tax.
They’re also asking members of the public to help out during this year’s Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri by reporting any offences through the JPJ Info Android App. Check out some more information about Ops Raya and the offences which are now not compoundable here.
