Mercedes AMG GLA 35 4MATIC Local CKD Version Launched
This AMG GLA 35 Sports SUV is priced at RM363,888 with SST.
The all new version of the Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV arrived in Malaysia during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in two variants and despite the lockdowns and the economic slowdown, this GLA 200 (priced at RM252,888) and the GLA 250 AMG Line (priced at RM295,888) was sold in just a few weeks.
Back in October 2021, almost a year later, the local assembled version was introduced and priced slightly lower from RM232k. We did a test drive of the GLA 250 AMG Line was impressed with its handling and power delivery.
Meanwhile, demand continued to be encouraging and so the team at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia decided to launch a performance version for 2022. This was going to be a full AMG version and so now we have the AMG GLA 35 4MATIC.
Powered by 1991cc turbocharged AMG tuned engine it delivers 306bhp and 400Nm of torque in a spirited acceleration time of 5.2 seconds which is hot hatch timings. A top speed of 250km/h is possible if there is available tarmac that does not have a police control.
Interestingly, this 1,680 kg SUV is quick and lively on the bends despite its ride height and still delivers a luxurious cabin environment.
PRESS RELEASE: The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC‘s assertive exterior design makes a clear statement and reveals at first glance that it belongs to the distinctive AMG family. The signature AMG radiator grille with vertical louvres and the signature AMG front apron with front splitter and lateral louvres featuring silver chrome trim immediately underscores the self-assured, dynamic character of the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC.
Eye-catching features when viewed from the side are the 20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matte black with high-sheen rim finish and the door panels with inserts in silver chrome. The striking AMG rear apron with two round tailpipe trim elements, the AMG spoiler lip and the slim, two-section rear lights lend an impression of breadth to the GLA’s rear.
The combination of sporty design and sophisticated details featured characteristic touches include the sports seats in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfiber in black with contrasting top-stitching in red and red seat belts to the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather with flattened bottom section and the AMG steering wheel buttons let you take the authentic racing feel to the extreme.
In the interior, the AMG hand comforter in the centre console, with integral buttons for operating the manual transmission mode, 3-stage ESP® and AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension for the driving dynamics functions already hints at the enormous technical potential, even when the vehicle is stationary.
The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC is complemented further by 20” AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with MULTIBEAM LED headlights featuring Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus with the standard electrically folding and adjustable exterior mirrors. It also features polished aluminium roof rails and a surround lighting with projection of the Mercedes-Benz logo.
The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC is available in Polar White, Cosmos Black, Iridium Silver, Mountain Grey and Denim Blue.
The new Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC radiates power and luxury. On the inside, the vehicle is covered in ARTICO man-made leather or DINAMICA microfiber black and features highlights of the Carbon-structure trim elements.
The sporty interior continues with the AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in nappa leather with AMG steering wheel buttons, enjoyed further in the comfort of the sports seats with electrically adjustable front seats with memory function. These seats are complemented by MANUFAKTUR seat belts in red, in line with the AMG personality.
The new addition to the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia portfolio also includes folding rear seat backrests, and the THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control for an even more relaxed drive.
The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC features the Light & Sight package and as standard, the 64 colour ambient lighting with an auto-dimming interior mirror and driver’s exterior mirror function.
The vehicle is further enhanced with the AMG lettering illuminated with an exchangeable cover, AMG floor mats and a stowage compartment in the centre console with a retractable cover.
The safety of the passengers always remains a priority at Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC will include the parking package with a 360-degree camera, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, the Lane Tracking Package, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Exit Warning Assist, and Active Brake Assist. For further convenience, the vehicle will also include the KEYLESS-GO Comfort-package and HANDS-FREE ACCESS with KEYLESS-GO.
Adding to the safety of the vehicle, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC will also include the EASY-PACK tailgate, and the URBAN GUARD vehicle protection with an Anti-theft alarm system, and an interior monitoring system that can be viewed from the drivers Mercedes me app.
The new addition will also have Kneebag, and rear seat belt status indications in the instrument display along with TIREFIT and a tyre pressure monitoring system for always staying one step ahead.
The new Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC will have the Burmester® surround sound system accompanied with the latest communications module (LTE) for the use of Mercedes me connect services which is complemented by the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system.
