New Mercedes-AMG GLE “Edition 55” Models Released As Part of 55th AMG Anniversary
Mercedes-AMG is turning 55 this year and have customised 6 GLE variants to celebrate.
This year, BMW M turns 50 years old and are celebrating with a whole range of special edition models. Not to be outdone, Mercedes-AMG has decided to celebrate its 55th anniversary too. After all, ’55’ is a significant enough number to some of AMG’s historical models. For 2022, they’re now releasing a limited number of GLE models in 6 different variants bearing the ‘Edition 55’ badge and a number of upgrades. They will be available for order until December 2022.
Only two finishes will be available for these models: obsidian black metallic or Manufaktur diamond white bright. These models will come with matt tantalum grey 22″ AMG forged cross-spoke alloy wheels with a high-sheen rim flange, wheel hub covers with “Edition 55” lettering and a laurel wreath, and specific trim parts finished in carbon matt black. What’s more, both sides of the vehicle will be wrapped with a special car film with the AMG emblem and an AMG diamond. The fuel filler cap is finished in silver chrome with AMG lettering.
The AMG Night Package can be bundled for high-gloss black finishing. This applies to the front splitter, apron trim strips, exterior mirror housings, and window surrounds. Heat-insulating dark-tinted glass for the rear doors and rear window as well as black chrome-plated twin tailpipes complete the AMG Night Package.
Inside, these models come upholstered in black and red. Stainless steel door sill trims feature red illuminated AMG lettering. Black velour AMG floor mats with red contrast stitching and “Edition 55” lettering is woven in. Customers will also get an AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in Dinamica microfibre with “AMG” and “55” badging. The AMG seats and door cards get two-tone nappa leather in contrasting red pepper and black. The hand rest in the centre console gets an embossed AMG crest and the rest of the interior have their AMG trim elements finished in carbon matt black.
As a final touch, customers will also get an “Edition 55” tailor-made AMG Indoor Car Cover with breathable outer panelling and anti-static inner flannel fabric.
