TAG Heuer Pays Homage To Singapore’s Cortina Watch With A Limited Edition Timepiece
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Cortina Watch Limited Edition is the first in the series.
If you’re a watch aficionado in Singapore, chances are you’ve dealt with Cortina Watch. They’ve been around since 1972 and on their 50th anniversary, TAG Heuer has released a series of limited edition commemorative watches. This month, the Swiss watchmaker are introducing the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Cortina Watch limited edition.
Only 10 pieces of this collector’s item will be produced. On each, “One of 10” and “Cortina Watch 50th Anniversary since 1972” will be engraved on the case back.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Cortina Watch Limited Edition is 42mm lug-to-lug and features a solid gold case with 18K 3N yellow gold plated and polished hour and minute hands.

In honour of its golden jubilee in 2022, Cortina Watch, one of Singapore’s leading brands in the watch retail industry, will launch a series of limited-edition commemorative watches in collaboration with some of the industry’s most esteemed watchmakers. This October, TAG Heuer introduces the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Cortina Watch limited edition, specially created for Cortina Watch’s 50th Anniversary.
Presented on a black alligator strap with a gold pin buckle, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Cortina Watch Limited Edition is limited to 10 pieces. A true collectors’ watch, each will carry the mentions “One of 10” and “Cortina Watch 50th Anniversary since 1972” on the case back. The exclusive TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Cortina Watch Limited Edition expresses the uniquely elegant and sporty character of its emblematic past, with an added touch of flair and modernity.
The partnership between Cortina Watch and TAG Heuer began in the 1980s, when TAG Heuer was most known for its sports models such as the 2000 series, which is the predecessor of its iconic Aquaracer dive watches, as well as the vibrant Formula One collection.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Cortina Watch Limited Edition draws from the same pure, understated, and legible aesthetic that first made the Carrera a favourite among demanding racing pilots on and off the track. The silhouette of the original Carrera is retained including the signature lugs and pushers, now scaled up to a contemporary 42-mm. The watch features a solid gold case for an added touch of luxury. The hours and minutes hands are 18K 3N yellow gold plated polished and coated with Super-LumiNova® for optimal readability.
Under a dome shaped sapphire glass, the unmistakable dial with its elegant tri-compax layout, takes on a brand-new style however, in a lush shade of green. Although seldom known for using gemstones as their dial material, TAG Heuer decided to highlight its creative audacity, on top of its watchmaking expertise, by creating a watch dial using jade-albite (also known as maw sit sit). This bold move is a refreshing update for the Carrera collection, yet at the same time is also a nod to the original 1963 design by Jack Heuer, by retaining its finely balanced design, complete with a slim bezel, angled lugs, classic pump-style pushers, as well as a minimalist seconds-counter and discreet date window at the 6 o’clock position.
Powering this rare and exclusive timepiece is none other than the highly precise in-house calibre Heuer 02. The movement features a column-wheel with vertical clutch and offers an 80-hour power reserve that is able to drive additional complications to the tri-compax chronograph. These can be observed through the anti-reflective sapphire crystal case back.
